Jamie Campbell
Lead Programmer
Juice Games
Currently Lead Programmer at Warrington-based Juice Games (owned by THQ), Campbell is focused on delivering titles for Playstation3 and Xbox360. He is responsible for code supervision, systems design and implementation, game design, new technologies, and also frequently acts as company representative at conferences, seminars and press events.
During the past six years at Juice he has been influential in introducing new ways of working, and has advocated exploring ways of reducing or making more effective uses of the fixed-costs associated with large team sizes through small development projects as cost-centres, and identifying gaps in other markets where the experience of the Juice studio could be exploited as an alternative to big-budget titles.
Before entering the games industry Campbell was Head of Research and Development at a UK-based electronics and telecommunications company, one of two successful start-up ventures in the past decade. He is a keen believer in professional development and in the final year of an MBA in Technology Management.
"The current convergence of games and other media is very exciting. I fell there are many opportunities for companies to form partnerships in order to explore potential new revenue streams while sharing resources and knowledge as well as cost and risk. In the past eight years, game development cost, complexity and team sizes have increased extremely rapidly. I would like to share past experiences, and my personal view of the future."
