Biography
Richard Lemarchand
Naughty Dog
Richard Lemarchand was the lead game designer of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, and also worked on Naughty Dog’s Jak 3 and Jak X: Combat Racing. He has made story-based character-action games the main focus of his design career and has worked with some of the industry’s best and brightest along the way. Originally hailing from a small town in north Gloucestershire, Richard is a hands-on designer who loves the practical business of building out a game in common-sense ways while keeping standards high. He spends his days with his metaphorical sleeves rolled up, championing the player’s experience and helping keep the development team on track. His role at Naughty Dog includes production as well as design. He got his industry break at MicroProse in the UK and moved to California to work at Crystal Dynamics in the mid-'90s where he helped to create some of the studio's most successful character-action titles including Gex, Pandemonium and Soul Reaver. Richard is very excited to be speaking at Develop for the first time.
