Biography
Alex Evans
Media Molecule
Alex Evans is universally acknowledged as one of the games industries technical innovators. He also energetically deploys his talents in a number of different arenas. A graduate of Cambridge University, Alex got his first taste of the software industry working at Bullfrog Productions during his holidays. He worked on a number of different games there including Magic Carpet 2, Syndicate Wars and Dungeonkeeper on the R&D and coding side. He joined Lionhead Studios fulltime on graduating and became a key member of the team developing cutting edge graphics technology for titles such as Black & White, Black & White 2, The Movies and The Room. His R&D work led to his invitation into Microsoft’s exclusive “Graphics Arbitration Board", a small group of top developers who help shape the future of 3D graphics on the PC. But Alex’s work in games only demonstrates half of his talents: by night; he turns the techniques used in games to more musical, 'live' directions. Alex's visuals and films have been shown around the world, most notably, on tour with Warp Records and the London Sinfonietta. He's made significant technical contributions to the cult PC internet game Live For Speed and helped Lionhead Colleague Mark Healey with Rag Doll Kung Fu. It was these collaborations along with his longstanding links with the demo scene (where he is known as Bluespoon) which convinced Alex that he wanted to develop games in a small and highly creative environment. So in 2006 he co founded Media Molecule with the Rag Doll Kung Fu collaborators Mark Healey, Dave Smith and Kareem Ettouney. The company is currently hard at work on their first game Little Big Planet for PS3 which has been signed to Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and is due to be released later this year.
