Guidelines - How to Submit a Speaker Proposal
Deadline for Speaker Submissions is 1st March 2009
The Submission Form will ask for the following information:
1. Contact Information
Please provide full contact details plus a biography of up 150 words.
2. Title of your proposed presentation
This needs to stand-alone as well as with the session description, so keep it concise and relevant so delegates can easily understand what this session is about.
3. Track
You need to decide in which area of expertise your session sits best - select one of the seven tracks listed.
4. Presentation Format
See above for description of each format, but you need to choose from Lecture or Panel.
5. Session summary (100 words)
Your elevator pitch. Explain in 3-4 sentences exactly what you'll be talking about, and what delegates will get out of coming to hear you. Your summary goes on the website and into the event guide, so keep it succinct and appealing. Please use the third person and present tense.
6. Session Take Away
Exactly what will delegates learn in your session - use of bullet points recommended here.
7. Intended Audience
Exactly who would benefit from attending this session - you can use job titles or specialist areas of responsibility or roles. Is there any prerequisite knowledge needed for understanding the content of this session?
8. Audience Level
Is your session aimed at all experience levels so no specific experience needed, intermediate - up to 5 years experience in this field or advanced - more than 5 years experience?
9. Full presentation description (500 words)
Describe in detail the proposed content of your session. Please include specifics such as case studies or examples you intend to use, and make sure your session has a beginning, a middle and an end. Please note that no proposal will be accepted without a full description.
10. Supporting Materials
List the elements you intend to use during your session to illustrate what you're talking about.
E.g. code samples, demos, video clips etc (please DO NOT attach anything at this stage)
11. Previous Speaking Engagements
Please tell us where else you have spoken - conference name, title of session and if possible any references. (please provide contact details for references)
Please Note:
At the end of every session, delegates are given a speaker evaluation form to complete, these are the criteria by which you will be evaluated:
- Quality of the speakers' delivery and presentation skills
- Relevance of content to the audience and speaker's knowledge of the topic
- Whether the session met expectations - did it match the publicised session description?
- Quality of visual aids
- Would they recommend this session to a colleague?
